Cornell University Big Red Color Guard
About Us
The Cornell University Big Red Color Guard is an extension of the largest student run organization on campus, the Big Red Marching Band, or BRMB. The BRMB is the only REAL marching band in the Ivy League, marching actual drill and playing real instruments as compared to the erratic, bench playing scatter bands of the other Ivy League institutions. Fittingly, the BRMB Color Guard is the only regularly performing color guard in the Ivy League.
Although still technically a part of the band, the guard functions fairly independently. We frequently write or own drill (or re-write it) to suit our needs, we write our own routines and we practice separately from the band when rehearsal is held in the band room. We perform almost entirely on flag due to the time contraints of learning a new show every two weeks.
The Color Guard isn't the largest section (flutes?), the loudest section (trumpets), or the rowdiest section (tubae), but we're a tight knit group who loves having a good time.
